The Aim. To determine the prevalence of alcohol consumption and the association between alcohol consumption, trauma and the psychosocial factors.
Methods. An anonymous voluntary survey was conducted in November–December 2023 and January–March 2024. The survey targeted individuals over the age of 20. A total of 290 respondents participated in the survey: 195 women and 95 men. The survey was prepared using Google Forms software. The questionnaire consisted of 40 questions.
Results. It was found that 99.3% of respondents had consumed alcohol at least once in the past 12 months. Men, single people, and those aged 20–29 were more likely to consume more than 6 standard units of alcohol per occasion. Respondents most often indicated that they consumed alcohol for socializing, relaxation, tasting, and during celebrations. About one-third of respondents reported having experienced various injuries while under the influence of alcohol. Men, people aged 20–29, and those who consumed more than 6 standard units of alcohol per occasion were found to be more likely to suffer injuries.
Conclusions. Alcohol consumption is very common among the adult population, with higher amounts consumed per occasion more frequently among men, single people, and young adults. Risky alcohol consumption is associated with a higher risk of injury and negative effects on relationships with loved ones. These findings highlight the importance of preventive measures to reduce alcohol-related injuries and psychosocial consequences.
